Physical Education in School Is Awesome

Many schools around the world are cutting physical education out of the students' daily routine to provide more time for the academic classes, like English and math. In the year of 2006, only 3.8 percent of elementary schools, 7.9 percent of middle schools, and 2.1 percent of high schools offered students daily physical education or its equivalent amount for the entire year. That is not good! Physical education is a very important thing, especially for our young children. There are many health concerns around the world and the main way to get rid of them is by exercising. Without physical education, the young generation will face many health problems throughout their lives. Physical education is something you need at a very young age and schools are the best way to provide it.
As to ethical reasons for keeping physical education part of our young people's school days, consider the fact that childhood obesity is now one of the most serious health issues facing the world. Childhood obesity is a very unhealthy and scary thing. From a recant poll in a local middle school in New Jersey, only 26.6 percent of the students spent time at home to stay healthy. Most of the students, sit in front of the television, play video games, or go on the computer. (This may be good news to eye doctors, but not for those kids and their parents.) Opponents often disagree because they think that kids can enjoy their lives and that they do not have to worry about their weight. But, most doctors say that you have to be careful at a young age about your weight or never know what health issues you will face in the future throughout your life. As you may already know, your weight has lots to do with your health. It is really important to take care of your health at a young age, so you are fine in the future.
Physical education helps everyone, especially students. It helps adults by loosing weight and stay fit. For some students, physical education is a way to meet their friends, relax, or forget schoolwork. For most students, physical education helps them in their academic classes by getting better grades. That is surprising, right? A Canadian study examined 546 students' academic performance of one additional hour per day of physical education. Students in grades second through sixth who received additional physical education earned better grades in French, mathematics, English, and science than the students who received the standard one period of physical education per day. Many people may say that this may be only true with those students, but other studies show the same results with their own experiments.
Another reason why schools should not cut physical education is because it makes kids strong and healthy. “Weaklings" get sick a lot because their bodies' catch germs very quickly. In order to not get sick quickly, your immune system has to be strong. To build up your immune system, you have to exercise. But, you can not just start at a random age; you have to start at a young age to get the best and the better results. You may be thinking that this is too much work for kids and they can get tired. But, no one is saying that they have to exercise for hours and hours. Forty six minutes in school is enough! Also, when you grow up and compare yourself to one of the "weaklings," you will feel proud and won't regret exercising. Instead, you will be thankful to your school(s) for having physical education.
Physical education is a very important thing that has to be part of everyone’s lives. It prevents a lot of bad things and has many big benefits. Schools should not cut down physical education. It decreases childhood obesity, which is a good thing. More than 75 percent of the kids in the world are overweight. That is a very sad and scary thing. Physical education also helps students in their academic classes. Many different studies can prove this with their own experiments. Being strong and healthy is something people should work on at a young age. Physical education in school makes the students strong and healthy. Physical education is a big part to facing the world, so students should start in school, where they learn other things that are needed to be successful.

THE HOLIDAY SEASON IS AFTER THANKSGIVING!!

The holiday season is coming up! This an awesome time of the year and many people put up beautiful decorations. Most of these people put up decorations on Thanksgiving or on that weekend. Why? Because they have no time after that. Is Thanksgiving a time to get ready for the holidays or is it time to be thankful?
Well... Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful!!! You can be Thankful for anything, from families to toys. During this time, fall decorations should be up and you should be with your families being thankful. Not singing holiday carols with your families and imagining Santa Claus come down the chimney with presents. Many radio channels, like 92.3, put on holiday carols before Thanksgiving. That is wrong!! Doesn't mean that there not as many Thanksgiving songs, you can put on other holiday songs! Thanksgiving is a very important holiday!
I can understand that in this world, there are many hardships. One of these hardships is work. In order to survive in this world, we need jobs and some of us do not get the jobs we want. Life is unfair, deal with it! Anyway, most of the people who work say that they got no time to get get ready for the holidays, except or Thanksgiving break. I can understand that because my parents work in the city and they come home late. Okay!! But, if you look at your calendar, there are many other weekends in between these two awesome times. See... now you can not make that excuse.
In all, all I am trying to say is that Thanksgiving is  an awesome holiday and people should enjoy instead of getting ready for the Holiday season. Hopefully, after reading this essay, you change your plans for next year if you did not do that already.

What I want For Christmas

I love the holiday season. We have no school! I also get many presents, some I like and others I do not. This year, I really hope to get a Sony laptop. I need to do my homework and it will help me learn more about technology. I need one really badly!
Currently at home, I have an old desktop. I can barely do my homework on it because when I type my essays for English class, it always hangs. With a new laptop, I can do my homework way faster. It won't get hanged after every word I type. Also, with a new laptop, I can learn more about technology. I can not do that with my desktop because I am afraid it will catch a virus and I can not afford that. Getting a new laptop will make my life way easier.
As you may know, I take my homework and classwork very seriously. My mom even says that! She thinks that I think or study too hard. My mom tells me to take it easy, but I can not. I get very upset when my old desktop hangs on me when I am doing my homework. I personally think that I deserve a Sony laptop. I have been getting good grades in school and I have been really good this year. Also, I have controlled my anger toward my old desktop. But I do not know how much longer I can take it.
I know that at this time of the year you get many requests from around the world. But, I would appreciate if you got me a laptop for Christmas. As you see, I really need one. Thank you!

Macy's Thankgiving Parade

The Macy's Thanksgiving parade is very famous around the world. It all started back in 1924. Throughout these years, this parade has evolved into a balloon, float, and band parade. In 1942, this parade had to stop because Macy's donated the balloons to the war effort. But, fortunately it was back on in 1945. And this time it was on television in New York for the first time! As you may already know, many people go to or watch this parade. If you do not do either, you are missing a very big event! Happy Thanksgiving!!

My Parents

There are many things that I am grateful for. But, the most important thing I am grateful are my parents. Everything I have achieved in my life, would have never happened without the support the gave me. Every step I have taken in my life, has happened because my parents have always been there for me. Without them, I have no chance to face the world! i love them and they love me!

Trick -or- Treat

Trick-or treating is really fun! We get all the candy in the world. Every year I go trick-or-treating around my neighborhood. I usually start at 5:00pm. My friends and I go to every house that gives away candy. Sometimes we even go twice to the same house because the candy there is really good. I don't know about you, but I love candy and I can not resist it. To me, the more candy the better. Soon it gets dark around 8:00pm, so we all go home. At this point we are all tired and exhausted. No one is hungry for the yummy food their lovely moms made.
I know that we all love candy. But I also know that this is a dentist's best holiday. This is because a lot of kids eat too much candy and then get cavities. Now, their parents have to take them to the dentist to fill in the cavity. And this is how dentists make money. I am not saying that you can not eat candy on Halloween, but just don't eat too much. Also, brush your teeth after eating the candy so you won't get any cavities.
Well, I got to go know! Don't eat a lot of candy and HAPPY HALLOWEEN! (Sorry, to all the dentists!)

Does Patriotism Still Matter?

In my opinion, patriotism still matters to everyone. It matters because there is still an active participation in the army and military. Also, patriotism pulls people together. Without patriotism our nation would not be as superior as it is now.
There is an active contribution in the army and military. Many people sacrifice their lives to honor and defend our country, day after day. They also protect our freedoms. Like the freedom of speech and religion. Without these freedoms and rights, our lives would be miserable. We have worked really hard throughout the history to get these freedoms and rights. We do not just want to loose them!
Patriotism also pulls people together. By this, everyone has something in common. For example, we say “The Star Spangle Banner” in the middle of a baseball or any sport events. In most schools, we say “The Pledge of Allegiance.” When we say this, we are showing the respect we have for our nation and how much we care about it.
Many people say that they will grow up to be in the army or the military. If they do, this will be a huge great effect on our nation because the more patriots we have to stand up for our nation, the better it is. I am not saying that you have to be in the army or military or have to say the national anthem everyday in order to be a patriot. You could do all those things, but there are many easier ways to be a patriot. To be a patriot, you can vote to choose the right leader for our country. There! You are a patriot. But, you have to make sure that the person you vote for is the absolute best leader for our nation!
The main thing I really want to tell you is that patriotism still matters to everyone. Hopefully, it will always matter to every single person in our nation.

Ralph Fletcher's Writing

In English, we were reading Marshfield Dreams: When I Was A Kid, written by Ralph Fletcher.Well... five excerpts! One thing I really like about his writing is that most of his stories are woven ideas. None of them just simply listed the main ideas. In the next paragraphs, I will tell you two excerpts I liked.
In his vignette"First Pen,"he states,"What words were hidden-unborn,unwritten-in all that unused ink?"(Fletcher,2005,pg.44)I like this sentence because it is very unusual. Many people and authors use the same plain words over and over again. This sentence is different from other sentences. It is rare!
In his vignette"Bobby,"he states,"Not a day goes by that I don't miss him."(Fletcher,2005,pg.60)This sentence is really emotional. As I read it, my heart was really sad. This sentence got the hold of me.In all, this story was really sad.
As you can see, Ralph Fletcher is a very interesting writer. I would like to read more of his stories.

My Mom

I love my mom! She is always there for me whenever I need her and she always supports me. Whenever I am upset, she always tries to make me feel better. And she always success! There has been no moment in my life where my mom hated me. I am very lucky to have a caring mom like her because many people do not have a caring mom. My mom gives me many useful advices. Her advices usually are about school and how to live with daily problems. I am a person who gives up easily. When that happens, my mom comes to the rescue.  Without her advices, I wouldn't be such a good human being. She also cooks for me. Her food is so yummy and delicious! Another thing I like about my mom is that she does not know how to yell or shout at me. Whenever she"does," I start laughing at her. She gets so irritated that she just leaves the room. When I tell my friends this story, they yell at me saying that I am mean. But, what can I do? It is really funny! Trust me, if you were me, you would do the same thing! All in all, I love my mom and without her, I am no one!

My Favorite Season

I love summer! Except when it is really hot. My favorite thing to do in the summer is to go for a swim in the pool. The water really cools me down! When it is breezy, I like to go to the beach. The ocean water comes right to my clavicles.Another thing I like about summer is that my mom's birthday is in the middle of it.Unlike my birthday, we go and play outside all day long.If we play outside too long on my birthday,we catch a cold.I don't want a cold on my birthday!Would you?Even though I love summer, there are many times I hate it. Like last year, my AC didn't work. It was burning hot outside and there was on AC inside my house. Now that wasn't good! But, luckily my parents got it fixed in about three weeks. All in all, I love summer!Don't you?

The Small Lockers

I have a very small locker! It's not fair because all the other rocket classrooms have big lockers.I can't even fit my backpack in there. Also, there are many extra small lockers so why can't we each have two lockers? Mrs. Patalano told us not to whine about having a small locker but what am I suppose to do? Winter is coming up! How do you expect me to fit my winter jacket in there? I am so upset because I now I have to think of a way to fit my winter jacket in there. Even though I have a small locker, I have an advantage for the next two years in middle school because for sixth and seventh grade everyone has small lockers.
